The Cost of Using Formal Intellectual Property Rights. Written by the Inter-American Development Bank and Universidad del Desarrollo, Santiago, Chile. The report analyzes how small innovative enterprises (SIE) in Latin America use formal intellectual property rights. The study surveyed 352 SIEs from Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru. The study found that SIEs had a lack of understanding of the IP system and compared the differences among the countries.
